/boat randomly breaks

I was sailing in the ocean using /boat and all of a sudden it breaks spontaniously.

Same thing happened to me. I think it happens because of this:
You see yourself 20 blocks away from land and then your boat breaks (or at least that's what happened to me). I think lag is responsible because when my boat broke 20 blocks away from land, I somehow got teleported to the land. I think lag makes us look like we're 20 blocks away from where we actually are. If this is wrong though, than this needs to fixed.

I'm unable to replicate it/it happens like almost never.
Not going to be able to fix this. Don't think it's a big issue either.
