Free Build: Log In,Get a Plot, Start Mining.
Do you think new players are going to right away when they log in go to the resource world to get items and materials?

Builder goes to go mining -> Finds that everywhere is worldguarded -> Finds different server

Counter potential issue -

In 1.7, we get these nice new biomes. The new desert biome thingy that I've forgot the name of, with the red sand.
It will have canyons - right?

If so, they may go lower than -30?

There are actually more biomes climbing up in height, rather than down, however oceans are going to be deeper, so if anyone is going to make an underwater base, a wg below 30 might be needed, the ocean floor is about 34 or something, but the foundation or underground supply should be underground, what about putting a small fee on y 30 down world guards? by small I mean 500, not something like 15 k >.>

As it could possibly be a VIP only thing, it's not like the whole world under y:30 would be worldguarded, only small bits of it would, that i wouldnt see being a massive issue, i also think it should have to be requested for it to go below 30, not just made that way.

I like this idea but I think there should be in game fee

The only thing I would worry about is there being WGs all over underground with nothing built in them, then the player either abandons them or just never comes back online... only this time we won't see the incomplete builds to remove.

I can also see people getting annoyed at not being able to get a WG above ground because someone would have gotten one below them.

we could use something like the plot system, where they'd have to of been active in the previous three months or something?

The main issue why this was first put in place was because we didn't want Worldguards underground everywhere and stopping people being able to mine in caves.

However, if we were to remove this "rule" then we would just make sure worldguards are poly worldguards that fit the size of the build in question, and not a large surrounding area?

yup and we could make it so they don't protect the above ground area easily enough, unless they're building there too?

So basically, it would be "build first, WG after"?

I think this is a thing that should be assessed case by case.

No wgs below y=30 is a decent rule of thumb, but it makes a lot more sense for plots in town than for areas of the wild. They can also be extended or added to as needed.

No.

We will give you a worldguard it, and can expand it when needed.

I think like others said you have to actually have a build in progress under ground and if you needed the space to go down it should be protected. Also I don't think ATM anyone should be mining in caves that are not in the RW because the RW was created for that reason if I'm correct.

If the issue here is Mining, perhaps we need a better way to show the new players the Resource World and what it does, and I do believe in Build first wg later in this case, not like some guy is gonna mine just next to you and the area you build and grieff it, that can be dealt with.

Regarding the "wg'd places all around the undergroundworld", a person should not get only a wg below 30, but also above it, monitoring the wgs would be a pain I believe, so a fee might be a good idea to make players think whether they really need it, however, as I mentioned, at places like deep oceans, there's not much ground above, and perhaps the fee there should be denied.

Same as Honkin there shouldn't be a problem with the wgs interfering with mining and such because we do have the resource world to get stuff.

Regions in the survival world can be expanded to under Y=30.
